PSconsult ICT Services BV

PSconsult ICT Services BV was founded in 1991 by Paul Schenkeveld and delivers services regarding:
  • UNIX™ and UNIX-like operating systems
  • The X-Windows (X11) grafical user interface
  • TCP/IP networks, both LAN and WAN
  • Securing servers and networks
  • Internet connections and firewalls
  • Virtual Private Networks
  • Servers for network applications:
    • Nameservers (DNS)
    • Email servers
    • Webservers
    • Network monitoring
    • User authentication and authorization

Besides many commercial UNIX versions, Open Source versions of UNIX are playing an ever-increasing role for PSconsult: FreeBSD, OpenBSD en NetBSD.

Tribute to a great teacher

To effectively and safely deploy modern computer systems and networks, one needs a lot of knowledge and experience. Experience can be obtained by putting knowledge to work for a long time. But it all starts with obtaining knowledge. Knowledge can be found everywhere nowadays but to present a consistent and comprehensive compilation of knowledge about a certain subject is a real art that only few teachers understand.
W. Richard Stevens, author of "standard books" like "UNIX Network Programming" and the "TCP/IP Illustrated" series understood this art like no other. His books are an indispensible source of knowledge about UNIX and TCP/IP networks for me and thousands of others. His premature death is a tremendous loss but his name and fame will forever be linked to computing and networking technology.
